The Christmas season at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa is celebrated throughout December. Each year, a central theme that encapsulates the Christmas story is chosen to guide the various events of the month.

For 2023, the theme selected was "The Story of God." Just as a thread binds books together, creating a cohesive narrative, this imagery inspired the graphics, content, and decor for the season.

Since the decor would be used throughout the month, it needed to be versatile enough to suit a variety of events. While most of the decor was designed to be more permanent, the interactive installation had to adapt to two distinct purposes. For one event, it featured promise cards for attendees to select, while for another, it transformed into a self-reflective activity for participants to engage with the theme.
